12 Years a Slave (2013)

I’ve watched this before, and so don’t need to rehash much that has been said about it.

But I do want to reflect on how absolutely beautiful the South and Louisiana is portrayed, and how that beauty only makes the terror of slavery feel sharper, not softer.
